Botox (Tox) FAQS

1

What is Botox?
Botox is an injectable neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes targeted muscles to soften the appearance of expression lines, such as forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet.

How long does Botox last?
Results typically last around 3–4 months, although this varies by patient, treatment area, and individual muscle activity.

When will I see results?
Most patients begin noticing results within 3–5 days, with full results generally developing over 14 days.

Does Botox hurt?
Most patients describe the injections as small pinches. The needles are very fine, and the treatment is typically quick.

2. How much does Botox cost?
Pricing depends on the number of units needed and the treatment areas. Our provider will assess your goals and recommend a personalized treatment plan. Our team can help you review current pricing.

3. How many units will I need?
The number of units varies based on your facial anatomy, muscle strength, treatment goals, and the areas being treated. Your provider will determine the appropriate amount during your consultation.

4. Will Botox make me look frozen?
Not necessarily. When appropriately administered, Botox can soften lines while preserving natural facial expression. Your results depend on your anatomy, dosage, and provider's technique.

5. What is the difference between Botox and dermal filler?
Botox relaxes targeted muscles to reduce expression lines. Dermal fillers add volume, enhance contours, and soften certain static wrinkles.

6. Is there downtime after Botox?
Most patients return to their normal activities shortly after treatment. Temporary redness, swelling, small bumps, or bruising may occur.

7. What should I avoid after Botox?
Follow your provider's specific aftercare instructions. You may be advised to avoid rubbing or massaging treated areas and strenuous exercise for a period after treatment. Your provider will explain any restrictions.

8. Can I wear makeup after Botox?
Your provider will advise when it is appropriate to apply makeup. If permitted, apply it gently and avoid rubbing or applying pressure to the injection sites.

9. Can I lie down after Botox?
Many providers recommend remaining upright for approximately four hours after treatment as a precaution. Follow the specific instructions given by your injector.

10. Can I get Botox if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
Cosmetic Botox is generally avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding because adequate safety data are lacking. Your provider should review your circumstances before treatment.

11. When should I schedule my next Botox appointment?
Many patients return every 3–4 months, depending on how long their results last and their treatment goals. Your provider can recommend an appropriate schedule.

12. What if one side looks different from the other?
Mild asymmetry can occur during the initial adjustment period. Contact our office so your provider can evaluate your results. Avoid scheduling additional treatment before the recommended assessment period unless your provider advises otherwise.

Dermal Filler FAQS

2

1. Does filler hurt?
Patients may experience pressure, pinching, or mild discomfort. Many fillers contain lidocaine, and additional comfort measures may be available depending on the treatment.

2. How much does filler cost?
Pricing depends on the product, amount used, and treatment area. Your provider will recommend a treatment plan based on your goals and provide pricing before treatment.

3. How many syringes will I need?
This depends on the area being treated, your existing volume, facial anatomy, and desired outcome. Your provider will determine what is appropriate after an evaluation.

4. Will my lips look too big or unnatural?
The goal can be subtle, natural-looking enhancement. Your provider will discuss your preferred shape, volume, and proportions before treatment.

5. How long does lip filler swelling last?
Swelling is common and often most noticeable during the first 24–48 hours. It may take one to two weeks or longer for the area to fully settle.

6. Can I get filler if I have an event coming up?
It is best to schedule filler well in advance of important events because swelling and bruising can occur. Your provider can recommend appropriate timing based on the treatment area.

7. What should I avoid after filler?
Follow your injector's aftercare instructions. You may be advised to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat, and unnecessary pressure on the treated area for a period after treatment.

8. Can filler be dissolved?
Certain hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Not every filler type can be dissolved this way, and dissolving filler has its own risks.

9. Can I get filler and Botox on the same day?
In some cases, yes. Your provider will determine whether combining treatments is appropriate based on your treatment plan and medical history.

10. Is filler permanent?
Most commonly used hyaluronic acid fillers are temporary. However, some products last longer than others, and certain filler types are not readily reversible.

11. What are the risks of dermal filler?
Common effects include swelling, bruising, tenderness, and redness. Your provider will go over any other serious risks with you during your consultation.
